From JUNK to FUNK pt.2

this was another roadside find recently… a pair of terrifically shaped replica some-famous-designer-chair… previously covered in cheap brown micro-suede… now in very funky, hot-off-the-press new collection from Warwick Fabrics. These are now on view in the Rapt showroom.

I've had this old rocker lying around a while… roadside find… unusable, and finally this last weekend I got around to reimagining it into its next life as the sign for my workshop (Bottoms' End). I like it!

Margaret's Chair

Here's the latest job off the workbench… Margaret's little chair - which had the works: full reupholstery and timber refinishing.  The cover fabric is 'Waratah' on pure flax, by Ink & Spindle.

today we delivered this pair of old Van Treight (Sydney furniture company) chairs and stool after quite a big makeover.
From boring to spectacular I reckon, and the icing on the cake is they're now superbly comfy.

In case you're wondering - we completely replaced the legs. Why? The original were ugly as sin - it didn't matter because they were hidden by the skirt, but our new look did not include replacing the skirt, so in taking it off we had to sex up the legs (and castors).

ROSIE'S SLIPPER CHAIR

Here are some B&A's of a sweet little slipper chair (def'n: small low chair, suitable for a bedroom, to sit while you slip your slippery-dips on and off. Some have hinged seats which conceal a compartment for keeping things in, but not this one) - the first chair off the workbench this year.  Covered in one of my favourite fabric designs - Hydrangea from Sparkk.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope (like me) you've had a wonderful Christmas break and are all set for a great new year.
To kick 2015 off we're having our first ever floor stock sale.  All showroom stock (including chairs, ottomans, pouffies, cushions, wall-art) is reduced by a massive 30% - to make way for a whole batch of new stuff I've got planned, but no room for.

Suite Dreams

This custom-made wing chair suite has just been delivered to its new home in the ACT.  The client chose the fabrics - a combination from Warwick Fabric's Anthropology collection - what a joy it is to find clients like these!

All the cushions are plain-backed in diff colours - so further mix-matching is possible by turning and swapping

OFF TO MARKET

It's been a while since we attended the excellent Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra … (having the showroom open on weekends makes market attendance harder), but we can't resist taking part in the annual RETRO DEPOT event on 12th October.  It's a celebration of all things "retro" and is also a great time to visit Canberra (springtime in the Capitol is just beautiful).
We're taking along a selection of our currently available Featherstone reproduction chairs  as well as lots more.
