Need Some Light Relief?

Because our morning lampshade making workshop is nearly full*, we're delighted to be adding a second workshop in the afternoon.

Price of $155 per person includes everything you need to make and take home your own professional-standard rolled-edge lampshade (except fabric**), and a delicious country-style afternoon tea.

**Fabric - you can either bring your own (we'll provide a detailed info sheet when you register, outlining suitable fabric requirements) OR you can purchase from a variety of beautiful designer remnants in the Rapt Upholstery showroom in Jamberoo either beforehand or on the day. (You can also pre-order by visiting the showroom well ahead of time and choosing from a huge selection of sample fabrics from fabric houses throughout Australia, and around the world).

FIRST WORKSHOP!

I'm delighted to finally be able to announce our first* workshop - LAMPSHADE MAKING.

In summary:
When: Sunday 23rd October 2016, 10am - 2pm
Where: Jamberoo Youth Hall
Who:  Taught by the multi-talented Julie Hillier (Ministry of Handmade) who is travelling all the way from Brisbane for this. Julie has a professional teaching and design background and is passionate about sharing her skills in all things handmade.
What: participants will learn how to make a drum (or empire) lampshade in their choice of fabric.  
Included: All materials (except fabric) and tools are supplied. And... because being creative is such hungry thirsty work, we're keeping you well-fed and watered with not only a country-style morning tea, but a scrumptious light lunch to follow (catering by well-known and loved local foodie Lee van de Haar).
Duration:  Workshop 3 hours, plus lunch 1hour
Fabric: BYO fabric, or you can pre-order from a huge selection of designer furnishing fabrics in the Rapt showroom, or you can purchase from a selection which will be available on the day at a fraction of their RRP.
Options: When you register we'll send a detailed info sheet outlining fabric requirements if you're bringing your own, plus all the options you'll have on day, which include various sizes and upgrades from the standard drum lampshade we'll be teaching.
A range of DIY lampshade kits will be available to purchase on the day so you can practise your new-found skills at home. (These also make terrific gifts for crafty people).
Giveaways: There will also be some great giveaways on the day!

Spring is Sprung!

A great job to herald in Spring - full reupholstery of this well-loved little chair, using a gorgeous floral linen from James Dunlop Textiles. Because of the huge pattern repeat no two sections of the chair had the same design - it was great fun working it all out.

Pilsbury Wingchair

Meet the latest Rapt Wingchair - the 'Pilsbury Mismatched' - named for the glorious feature fabric 'Pilsbury', a pure linen by Warwick.
All materials are brand new - including the frame, which is made by a Sydney master-craftsman.
This chair is seriously comfortable, largely due to the unusual inner-sprung seat cushion (superior comfort to feathers, or foam).
The fabrics are Scotchguarded;
the chair comes with the matching lumbar scatter cushion;
the legs are hand-painted in semi-gloss enamel (and a patchup pot is even available too!);
and - there's even a matching ottoman available.

All details in the Rapt online store, and the chair is currently available for a sitting in the Rapt showroom in Jamberoo (while it lasts!)

MOTHERS' DAY IDEAS

Showroom is open the next 2 Saturdays (April 30th and May 7th) with lots of beautiful ideas for Mothers' Day, including this brand new batch of doorstops. For the Mum who has everything! Or… the Mum who loves an Open Door Policy!

There's also plenty of pretty, unique scatter cushions to choose from, chairs, ottomans and framed fabric art.

Here's a couple of gorgeous new designs from Social Fabric just in - sample hangers in store now. These - like all our fabrics - are available to order by the metre for your own projects. Prices on request.

Mothers' Day Suggestion

Just finished full refurbishment of this dear little chair. Work involved timber refinishing and full reupholstery, including covers using Jacquard fabric not available in Australia (I imported direct from a centuries-old Austrian mill which specialises in really special woven fabrics).
It's now available for sale in the Rapt Showroom and online store.
Don't you think this would really make some mother's day?

the KITCHEN KOLLECTION

I've been having fun with a stash of beautiful unused linen teatowells I've had a while… wondering what to do with. By including some gorgeous remnant furnishing trimmings, these are pretty stylish upcycles I reckon!
