Market Update

Rapt! had its most successful outing yet on Sunday 18th November to the Old Bus Depot Market at Kingston, in Canberra.

Here are a few pics of the day (and yes, that is me on the left, sporting a new do). 

The story of who bought the Storyteller Wingchair (front left of this pic), is a good one which I'll save for another post.

There were a few brand new products on the stall which don't show up in these photos, so here are some shots of them back at Bottoms' End before loading. This new upcycled coffee-table-stool, covered in an original Florence Broadhurst design (Ikeda) on pure linen, sold quickly to a lovely girl who told me she already owns this design in not one but 2 t-shirts! I do hope she's going to send me a pic of her sitting on this wearing one.

Next Old Bus Depot Market outing for Rapt! will be January 13th next year. (We've got so much commissioned work to do we're skipping the previously promoted December market.)

Smart Living Expo Kiama

A quick post to let you know about a great event happening in Kiama this coming Sunday (June 3rd).
The SMART LIVING EXPO celebrates World Environment Day with a range of activities, stalls, talks, workshops and a massive car-boot sale - all promoting sustainable living.

Rapt! is taking part as an exhibitor - our very first ever 'show'. Miss Snupeson and I are very excited and more than a little nervous!  
We're promoting the message "DON'T JUNK IT - FUNK IT", with the aim of encouraging people to upcycle their outdated or unwanted furniture rather than add it to landfill. 
We're taking a number of items along to display (and sell) including 

• upcycled chairs, 
• a colourful clutch of brand-new POUFFOTTS (see last post)
• a new range of DRAFT-DODGERS (for under doors) made from colourful upholstery remnants
• FRAMED FABRIC (if there's room) - a beautiful piece of cloth fabric (currawongs on hemp). See the SHOP page for details.

Funky Spool Stool

Blogging has taken a back-seat lately, now that Bottoms' End is in full production mode.  A number of projects have been completed, including this commissioned Spool Stool.

For those of you who haven't seen Spool Stools before - the reason they're called this is because the frame of the stool is an upcycled electrical spool... like this...

At this stage Spool Stools are available only by order - cost approx. $350.00 (depending on fabric chosen). In future these will be stock items, available in a variety of fabrics and leg lengths & styles.

Here's another 'first', this time my first 'spool-stool' (so named because its core is an empty electrical spool rescued from tip).

It will be going into production this year, and will be available in a wide range of different fabrics, and also leg lengths and seat-sizes.  
I'm currently using this one as my office chair at the computer desk - and it's surprisingly fantastic not to have arms or back - let's me get up and down more easily.  
Also - it's quite firm - so can even be used as a coffee table when we have it in the living room.
